Rules and Procedures
The West District Committee strives to provide a safe and friendly opportunity for youth to fellowship and interact with other local churches. Please take the time to review the rules and requirements for the league.
I. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS:
A. All basketball players must be in grades 6th through 12th. Volleyball players must be 6th grade or older, including adults.B. Players, Coaches and Leaders must attend one of the participating churches, Sunday Schools, Sabbath Schools or youth groups for at least 3 out of 4 weeks each month, starting the first week of December and continuing throughout the season. Players must play for the church they attend.
C. A church that has a new family start attending regularly during the season may invite a young person from that family (see A and B) to join their team. The pastor/ church leader is asked to write a letter of verification in such an instance.
D. Basketball: High school Freshmen and Junior Varsity basketball players may play only with written permission from the high school coach (see permission slip attached). Varsity basketball players are not eligible to play in the West District Church league, but are encouraged to serve as a referee, time/scorekeeper, or assist as needed.
E. Players are required to turn in permission slips (signed by a parent or guardian if under age 18), show proof of insurance, and pay the registration fee of $25.00 to league officials before the first game. Volleyball players must also fill out a registration form (signed by a parent or guardian for minors), show proof of insurance, and pay the registration fee. There will be a free-will offering taken during the Volleyball time.
F. All basketball teams (girls and boys) will consist of players in grades 6th through 12th.
G. Basketball players may not switch teams after the rosters are set prior to the first game. A roster (names of player and number) be given to the league president by the first game.
II. ALL GAMES WILL BE PLAYED IN THE CUMBERLAND REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MAIN AND SMALL GYMS.
A. Only those individuals directly associated with the league and the players may come as spectators. Spectators and players are to remain in the gyms and not wander the halls. CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES BY A PARENT OR AN ADULT FROM THEIR CHURCH. We may use the bathroom facilities, but must immediately return to the gym.
B. We are to use the South door (students’ parking lot) entering the hallway to the gym.
C. Only sneakers or soft-soled shoes are to be worn on the court.
D. The building will open at 5:45 p.m., and close no later than 9:30 p.m.
E. The basketball games will start around 6:00, immediately following Devotions. Volleyball games will begin after basketball games have ended.
F. Games will be played on Saturday nights. Please check the schedule for dates and duties required for your church and team.
G. Basketball: Each church is responsible for having a score/time keeper for each game [One for boys and one for girls. Please note the rules for score keeping and time keeping below].
h. All basketball players must sign in with the League secretary prior to each game they play. Rosters will be checked each week.
i. Failure to sign in will result in a player not be allowed to play in the scheduled game
III. NO SODA CANS OR GLASS BOTTLES OF ANY KIND MAY BE TAKEN INTO THE GYM. ONLY PLASTIC RESEALABLE CONTAINERS AND THERMOSES MAY BE BROUGHT INTO THE GYM.
